A man who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and distributed them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
The man played a "sweet game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She explained Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor added: "This year his family member had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated items including baby oil, Vaseline and medical needles were located, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative explained the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member notified the police a second time.
She explained Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
