Vehicles in German City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were contacted by a resident who found a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then found multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

A senior representative commented the attack left him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
